Why Worry; When You Can Pray?

I once was faced with a really daunting challenge. I spent all my free time complaining and talking about it. I told everyone who cared to listen except God and before I knew it, the problem became big; so big that it took my peace away and introduced doubt in my heart. I almost started questioning God and giving him ultimatums, you know something like “God, if you understand answer me between now and Tuesday….hmmmmn.” It is almost needless to say that I was losing myself and my faith.

But the moment I could bring myelf to talk to God about it, I suddenly realized how insignificant the problem was before the All Sufficient One. My peace returned, my fears were allayed and my doubts ceased. I then began to see the light in the Bible verses below:

“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Phillipians 4:6-7

Over the years, I have discovered that prayer is one thing that changes everything. It most especially changes your perspective. You stop seeing yourself as helpless and victimised by the devil rather you see yourself as an heir of the all powerful God. There is no limit to the extent of how prayer can change our lives.

Have you been worrying too often? You should know that worry changes nothing. It does not add even a cubit to your stature as the Bible says. Try prayer; it is always worry’s antidote. This hymn says it all:

“Oh! What peace we often forfeit
Oh! What needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer”

So, when next you are tempted to worry, take it to God in prayer
