“And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.
After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.” Acts5:34-39 (KJV)
Unlike some self-acclaimed men who were brought to nought, close to 2000 years after the death of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, his birth and its impact on humanity is still widely celebrated. His name is still the most powerful name in history and his blood remains the remedy for the fall of mankind. No depreciation!
It is even more interesting to note that history revolves around him. The dating system of B.C (Before Christ ) and A.D (Anno Domini, a Latin phrase meaning “in the year of our Lord” revolves all around Jesus.
The purpose of the B.C./A.D. dating system was to make the birth of Jesus Christ the dividing point of world history.
The birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Christ are the “turning points” in world history. It is fitting, therefore, that Jesus Christ is the separation of “old” and “new.” B.C. was “before Christ,” and since His birth, we have been living “in the year of our Lord.” Viewing our era as “the year of our Lord” is appropriate.
The primary reason why the world will not recover from Jesus is the fact that he was sent of God to deliver us from sin and condemnation once and for all.
Jesus was not a happenstance. His arrival and his mission had been consistently prophesied long before he was born especially by the Prophet Isaiah:
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6-7 (KJV)
If you still await another Messiah, I urge you to wait no more. Jesus has been given by God. He is the Messiah. He is the one we have been waiting for. Wait for no other. Salvation and deliverance is in his name alone.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (KJV)
Jesus saves and I will shout it out that He has graciously saved me from sin, death and self. He can save you too!
It’s Christmas time and we celebrate Jesus and all his awesomeness. And yes! It’s not “Xmas”, it is Christmas because Jesus can never be substituted with an “X”. So, merry Christmas everyone!
