I have noticed this trend for a while now and I have been gravely uncomfortable with it. In fact, I have never ceased to wonder how we got to this point; this point where white or black has been replaced with innumerable shades of gray.
I was having an interesting conversation with a friend about “gayism”, if there’s any word like that, and then we got to a point he said “well, the conservative Christians are the ones that have a serious issue with homosexuality but the liberal Christians actually don’t care that much.”
That statement made me feel like we now had two officially recognized divided Christian “parties” with each one aiming for superiority. The liberals who believed anything goes and the conservatives who upheld the ancient landmark.
I was unhappy because Christianity is not an ideology to be debated or tested neither is it a political party to cross carpet to and fro but Christianity is a relationship with God. And in a relationship, not any and everything goes.
If we must be anything, then we all should be conservatives; who hold tenaciously to the truth and uphold it any cost. This is the only way Christianity will not go into extinction. Time might change everything but it doesn’t change who God is and his demands upon our lives.
I know this post might make some persons unhappy but the truth must be spoken. Many of us just want to stay on the fence to prevent being tagged a Jesus freak. Don’t stay on the fence when you know the truth.
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
2Timothy2:19(KJV)
So, let us earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to us by the saints. Many of us, have unconsciously become the “everything goes” sort of Christian without even meaning to. Let us leave the shades of grey behind and speak what we see: White or black?
