Even Stolen Waters are Sweet!

After tasting of the tree of knowledge of good and evil,  I can imagine Adam and Eve saying to themselves “This God sef, he no want make we enjoy better thing?”. To them, it just would not have made sense that God instructed them not to taste of a fruit that looked so pleasant to the eyes.

Just like the Bible says, “there is a way that seemeth right (sweet, pleasurable) unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death” Proverbs 16:25(Emphasis added). That it feels so nice, does not make it right. Even stolen waters are sweet!

“Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.” Proverbs9:17-18(KJV)

That sex outside marriage is sweet does not make it the right thing to do. Even the condoms and contraceptives cannot keep you safe. You know that high feeling you get after downing those bottles or smoking, it still does not resolve you of the palava that is patiently waiting. Even the packet in your pocket constantly reminds you that smokers are liable to die young. The fact that your maga is always paying does not make internet fraud the real deal. You are too young to spend the rest of your life behind bars.

For momentary pleasure, Adam and Eve lost out on God’s plan for them and because of their actions, sin and condemnation came into the world.
When you cheat, lie, steal for pleasure or monetary gains, in that instant it would seem like the world has fallen at your feet but sweetheart, even bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

If you ask Adam and Eve, they will tell you they wish they hadn’t tasted of the fruit. If King David, could do it all over again, he would not even have take a second glance at Bathsheba. If you ask Samson, he will tell you he cursed the day he slept on Delilah’s laps. If Gehazi could turn back the hands of time, he would not have taken gifts secretly from Naaman.

God is sovereign, if he says do not do this or that, then do yourself the favour of obeying. Stolen waters are sweet but the end is always destruction. You need pleasure? True and lasting pleasure and joy can only be found in God.
