Girl-Child Education Advocate and Inspiring Filmmaker, Zuriel Oduwole Turns 16

Making her first film at age 12 and having met with 24 Presidents and Prime Ministers across the globe to talk to them about creating policies that makes sure all girls go to school, Zuriel Oduwole is one very inspiring teenager. One of the youngest to make it to a Forbes’ listing

Two years ago when I had the privilege to interview Zuriel for the TeenAchiever, she was just 14 years old but the wisdom that can be garnered from that interview is rare with 14 year-olds. You can read the interview here

Today, she turns 16 years old and she is still telling Africa’s vibrant stories through filmmaking and inspiring young girls all over the world.

Zuriel Oduwole

Filmmaker Zuriel Oduwole left Durban – South Africa after attending the Durban International Film Festival and participating in events as part of Mandela’s Centenary – during which she showed her film “Follow The Ball” for Education at the Moses Mabhida Stadium before scores of young women.

Before she departed yesterday for Nairobi – Kenya, she spent a few hours putting together some images she saw and some experiences she had, while in the Kwazlu Natal provinces coastal city of Durban.
Click  here  to watch her video where she shares her experiences of the sights and sounds of Durban.
It is part of her continued journey and mission, of always showing a positive and vibrant Africa to the rest of the world.
We celebrate Zuriel Oduwole, an amazing African Shero as she turns 16!
